The Great Frame Up store on Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park, is hosting the Menlo-Atherton High School Creative Self-Expressions Art Contest. The students in the Drawing and Painting, Photography, and Ceramics classes at the high school submitted their work from the year. The teachers of the classes chose a few to be featured in the art show through May 31.
The winners of the overall contest were announced by at a reception for the contestants and their families held on May 22. The first place winners took home $100, second $50, third $25.
Katrina Wijaya took first place in the 2D Beginner category, followed by Alex Jin and Michael Mainiero for their amazing photographs. The first and second places in the 2D Advanced category went to Scott Hurn and Kathryn Mohr for their paintings. Chris Jarrett won first place in the 3D Intermediate category, with Jose Luis Pena taking second and Catherine Peterson and Pauli King tying for third place, and an honorable mention went to Rosa Kurtz in the 3D Advanced category. Finally the first place poster winner was Lauren Nathan, whose poster was used to advertise for the event.
